Farm Heritage Day - April 17th, 2010 A one day version of our world famous Old Fashioned Farmers Day. Come see the Golden Knights!! Farm Heritage Day Gates open 9 am Entrance: $7 (under 6 years, free) The Silk Hope Ruritans invite you to join in the farm fun at the second-ever Silk Hope Farm Heritage Day on Saturday, April 17th, beginning at 9am and lasting all day! Admission is $7 per day, per person; children under six are admitted free! Parking is free! The event brings to life agriculture from the past at Silk Hope's Historic Farm Heritage Park, with vintage lawn and garden equipment, huge static steam engines on display, children’s activities, horse demonstrations, a flea market, great food (homemade, southern, and plentiful options), and more. See the Silk Hope Restored Historic Village with the most recent addition, the renovated Blacksmith Shop featuring Silk Hope’s own Master Blacksmith Peter Ross (Master of the Blacksmith Shop at Colonial Williamsburg for 25 years). Watch, in operation: Grist Mill, Saw Mill, Window & Door Mill, Cotton Gin, and plenty of "Steam Cream" – Homemade Ice Cream Churned by Steam Power! Enjoy live music with Country and Bluegrass performances throughout the day. Walk around and see antique farm tractors, gas engines, and collectible cars.
