We are members of the Ruritan National organization. We are a group of area citizens who come together to improve our community and to build a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. We are home to the Old Fashioned Farmers Days celebration, held each year over the Labor Day weekend. We sponsor Silk Hope Boy Scout Troop 911 (for 50+ years and counting!), as well as Silk Hope Cub Scout Pack 911 and the Silk Hope Girl Scouts. We award numerous Scholarships each year to area High School Seniors, and during the holidays we take fruit baskets to the elderly. We also address many local environmental and social concerns. The Club took the lead in financing, planning, and building the Silk Hope Fire Station and Community Building, which was completed in the late 1960s. The Group has also created the Silk Hope Farm Heritage Center, which contains a large array of antique Steam Powered Equipment, along with an extensive collection of old Farm Buildings and equipment. These items are on display, many actually operating, during our annual Old Fashioned Farmers Days celebration and at other events throughout the year. The Silk Hope Ruritan Club is currently building a new Community Building to replace the one recently lost when a new Fire House was built. The new Community Building will be larger and much better-designed for its purpose: to bring the Community together by providing a place for large-group meetings and other functions which currently have no suitable location to get together. Please visit the “Community Building” Page for plans and pictures.
